Research Fellow in Medicinal Chemistry (GPCRs) Job No.: 676954 Employment Type: Full-time Duration: 1 year fixed-term appointment The Opportunity An exciting opportunity has become available for a motivated and talented individual to join the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences as a Research Fellow in the Medicinal Chemistry Theme. A significant research area within the Theme relates to G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) drug discovery. Reporting to Prof. Peter Scammells, the focus of the study will be the development of allosteric and bitopic ligands acting at muscarinic acetyl choline receptor (mAChR) family. Key Responsibilities: Synthesis, purification, characterization, and evaluation of novel mAChR adenosine receptor ligands. Compound design, data management and analysis, and sample preparation. Engagement in a range of drug discovery-related activities. Qualifications: A PhD qualification in medicinal or organic chemistry. Experience in the synthesis of small molecules. An understanding of pharmacology and/or drug development will be highly regarded.
