About the Role We are seeking a Research & Innovation Manager to lead our innovation strategy, intellectual property portfolio, and grant management. This role is pivotal in collaborating with research institutions, overseeing patents and trademarks, and securing funding for cutting-edge technology development. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in semiconductors, electrodeposition or a related field , along with experience in intellectual property management, strategy creation, and academic partnerships. You will be working closely with the co-founders of Syenta to ensure our grant KPI’s are met and we are both innovating and protecting our IP in the right way. The role could be part-time, if only the grants or IP management part of the role is a fit. Key Responsibilities Build and maintain partnerships with academia and research institutions to stay at the forefront of emerging technologies. Oversee the creation and publication of technical white papers to establish industry credibility. Provide technical insights and recommendations for the product roadmap in collaboration with the Head of Product. Identify and protect innovations early in the R&D cycle. Manage patent filings, working closely with external patent attorneys. Develop and execute an IP protection strategy , balancing trade secrets and patents. Collaborate with the CTO/Legal team to register trademarks and manage IP-related compliance. Grants & Academic Partnerships Identify and shortlist global and local grants , maintaining a strategic funding calendar. Manage grant budgets, milestones, and reporting requirements . Manage the R&D tax return projects and prepare relevant R&D documentation. Lead the grant scouting and application process , ensuring alignment with company innovation goals. Foster strong relationships with academic institutions to drive research collaborations. Work with the global thought-leaders of the semiconductor industry and manage cross-time zone collaboration of both academic and industrial R&D teams. Requirements & Qualifications Advanced degree (PhD or Master’s preferred) in electrochemistry, semiconductors, material science, or a related technical field . Proven experience in intellectual property management , including patents and trademarks. Strong background in R&D collaboration , with experience in academic partnerships. Experience in securing and managing government or industry grants . Excellent communication, time and project-management skills and ability to manage cross-functional collaborations. Why Join Us?
