Retail Buyer – Foodland Darlington (South Australia)Location: Foodland Darlington, SASalary: $75,000 + SuperannuationEmployment Type: Full-Time (38 hours per week)About Us Foodland Darlington is a proudly South Australian-owned supermarket, committed to delivering fresh, high-quality groceries and exceptional service to our local community. We specialize in fresh produce, gourmet foods, and everyday essentials, ensuring our customers have access to the best products at competitive prices.We are seeking an experienced Retail Buyer to join our team and manage product selection, purchasing, and inventory to align with customer demand and business objectives.Key Responsibilities Identify, source, and negotiate with suppliers to procure high-quality grocery, fresh produce, and specialty food products. Monitor inventory levels, forecast demand, and ensure optimal stock levels to minimize wastage while maximizing availability. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating favorable terms, pricing, and promotions. Analyze sales data and customer preferences to introduce new products and optimize product range. Set competitive retail pricing, considering cost margins, market trends, and customer affordability. Ensure all products meet food safety, labeling, and regulatory requirements in accordance with Australian retail standards. Work closely with the marketing team to plan seasonal promotions, discounts, and in-store campaigns to boost sales. Regularly review customer feedback and adapt purchasing strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty. Skills & Qualifications AQF Certificate III with at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3). Previous experience as a Retail Buyer, Procurement Officer, or Category Manager in the grocery/retail sector. Strong knowledge of food products, suppliers, and market trends. Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills. Ability to analyze data and make informed purchasing decisions. Understanding of inventory management and stock control practices.
