About the Opportunity We have an exciting opportunity to join Metcash as our SHE Manager. In this role you will provide SHE leadership and support to our Food and Liquor business units operating across Queensland.You will be responsible for driving the implementation of the Metcash SHE strategy, and building capability with all levels of leadership to drive continuous improvement in safety. In this Role Provide SHE and Injury Management Support: Offer advice and support to senior management on safety, health, and environmental (SHE) programs, policies, and processes, ensuring effective injury management. SHE Strategy Development and Implementation: Assist in developing and implementing the Metcash SHE Strategy and coordinate safety, health, wellbeing, and environmental initiatives locally. Safety Culture at Site Level: Ensure the implementation of SHE processes at the site level, promoting a culture where safety is a core value. Injury Management and Claims Strategy: Collaborate with the National Injury Management Advisor to define strategies for managing Queensland claims, including training return-to-work coordinators and overseeing employee care and rehabilitation. Risk Management and Leadership Development: Actively manage safety, health, and environmental risks, building capability in business leaders to foster safety and well-being. Compliance and Training Oversight: Oversee compliance with training needs analysis and matrices to ensure all relevant training requirements are met. Promote Safe Culture through Leadership: Encourage leadership to integrate SHE Conversations into key performance indicators, reinforcing safe behavior across all pillars. Incident Reporting and Investigations: Foster prompt hazard identification, near miss reporting, and thorough incident investigations to reduce risks and ensure consistent reporting and corrective actions. You’re Likely a Match If Minimum 5 years’ experience in a safety leadership position Experience within FMCG, warehousing, distribution or supply chain roles is preferred Tertiary qualifications in SHE or a related discipline ICAM Lead Investigator Certification SHE Lead Auditor Certification Proven ability to work effectively with line management to build capability and safety Proven capability in Injury/Claims Management (Return-to-Work Coordinator Certification is highly regarded) Highly effective communication and ability to develop robust working relationships Life at Metcash Experience a supportive and flexible work environment.
