Southern NSW Local Health District covers a large area of the state, from Goulburn and Crookwell to the Victorian border, surrounding the ACT on three sides, a total of 44,537 sq kms. Where you'll be working Goulburn Base Hospital is in Southern NSW LHD, approximately 2 hours from Sydney (195 kms) and 1 hour from Canberra (90 kms). Goulburn has a population of approximately 30,000 and is situated on Gundungurra and Ngunnawal lands. The hospital is located in a new Clinical Services Building and has approximately 100 beds. The ED has a Level 4 role delineation with 2 resuscitation beds, 6 acute beds (including 2 isolation rooms), and a fast-track area. A typical day in the ED sees 60-70 undifferentiated patients (adult and paediatric; about 22,000 patients per year), with significant acuity and complexity across a wide range of conditions. What you'll be doing The role of Career Medical Officer in the ED is to provide high quality and safe clinical care to all patients in the ED. Selection Criteria Holds registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Additional qualifications in Emergency Medicine desirable. Demonstrated high level, effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated significant experience relevant to Emergency Medicine practice and evidence of competence in skills relevant to Australian rural hospital practice, including trauma and emergency scenarios. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, build collaborative partnerships and provide leadership of a team. Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching of medical, nursing and allied health professionals and to continuing self-education, research and quality improvement. Demonstrated commitment to patient safety. Demonstrated commitment to behaviours which align to the NSW Health CORE values and SNSWLHD Values, goals and strategies. Commitment to participate in an equitable medical roster, including evenings, nights and weekend shifts.
