About the Role A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Safety Compliance Specialist to join our team! Ideally from a retail or trade environment, you will provide a strong commitment to ensuring workplace safety, compliance, and driving a strong safety culture. In this role, you will lead and train team members, emphasising the importance of safety as the top priority while maintaining the needs of smooth business operations. As a key leader, you will contribute to driving the company’s overall safety strategy and vision, always while embodying our core values. Collaborating closely with team members across various departments, you will oversee all safety compliance initiatives and ensure sites adhere to industry standards and regulations. This role is ideal for an individual who is career-driven, highly motivated, and passionate about creating a safe and compliant work environment. Responsibilities will include: Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and procedures to ensure compliance with legal requirements and company standards. Deliver and develop safety training programs to team members at all levels. Promote a strong safety culture within the organisation, encouraging proactive safety behaviour and compliance among all team members. Lead investigations into workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses, ensuring thorough documentation as well as the completion of investigation methods such as root cause analysis, ICAM & 5 Why’s. Conduct risk assessments, identifying hazards, and implementing risk controls and mitigation strategies to prevent incidents, non-compliance, and injuries. Follow ‘Our Circle of Care’ principles, and our responsibility for the safety of not only our ‘self’ but that of our family, customers & community. Maintain and update training records, ensuring all team members receive the necessary safety training. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, to ensure the company’s safety practices meet or exceed compliance standards. With a growth and entrepreneurial mindset, look for growth opportunities for both the team and the business, developing creative solutions and managing risks. Track and analyse safety performance metrics, prepare reports for management, and recommend improvements to enhance overall safety compliance. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS Proven experience in a safety-related role, preferably in a retail or trade environment. Strong knowledge of OH&S regulations and best practices. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, relevant OH&S software, data, and analytics. Experience conducting safety audits and developing improvement plans. A genuine passion and commitment to creating a safe work environment and promoting a culture of safety throughout the organisation. The capability to lead and influence others in matters of safety, including motivating employees, promoting safe behaviours, and fostering a proactive safety culture. Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety (mandatory). Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel between branches as needed (mandatory). Relevant experience in a safety coordination role (minimum 3+ years). High Risk Work Licence – Forklift (LF) and Vehicle Loading Crane (CV) (preferable).
