Safety and Security Officer - Custodial Youth Justice - Multiple Vacancies Department for Education, Children and Young PeopleContinuous Improvement and EvaluationServices to Youth Applications must be submitted by Sunday 23 February, 2025 11:55 PM AEST Award/Classification: Tasmanian State Service Award - General Stream Band 3 $74,783 to $80,835 per annum Employment type: Fixed-term, full-time Region: North Within this context, the Safety and Security Officer will support the ongoing safety and security improvements at Ashley Youth Detention Centre (AYDC) through maintaining the safety and security of AYDC by controlling access to the centre, screening for contraband, monitoring surveillance cameras, and managing personal security equipment. Duties The Safety and Security Officer will: Control access to the centre Screen for contraband Monitor surveillance cameras Manage personal security equipment Period of Appointment Fixed term, ASAP for 12 months Applicants should be aware that for twelve (12) months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill any subsequent full-time or part-time vacancies in accordance with Employment Direction 1. Hours per fortnight 73.5 hours per fortnight Minimum Requirements Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status – Employment) Pre-employment checks including: Conviction checks in the following areas: Crimes of violence Sex-related offences Serious drug offences Crimes involving dishonesty Serious traffic offences Disciplinary actions in previous employment check Experience working in a Control Room or a security-critical environment.
