Job Description

Details : Located in the Tuggeranong District of Canberra, Isabella Plains Early Childhood School (IPECS) is one of six early childhood schools in the ACT. With approximately 164 enrolments, IPECS is a place of learning for young children to thrive and belong. Specifically built to provide high quality education and care services for children from birth to 8 years old, the school has embedded research and best practice to inform their teaching approaches to provide children with the best start in life. Through core and specialist programs, staff explicitly teach the learning skills, assets and dispositions required for 21st century learning using the framework of the 8 C’s – Communication, Collaboration, Commitment, Craftsmanship, Creativity, Choice, Curiosity and Confidence. Specialist programs include Makerspace (ICT and STEM), Spanish and Sustainability. The school has natural play spaces to promote physical activity, imaginative free play and foster social interaction. Play areas are intentionally set at the beginning of each day with a variety of experiences that foster creativity, problem solving and relaxation and help students develop their proprioception and kinaesthetic ability. IPECS values the strong partnerships they have established with both families and the wider community, working closely with IPECS offers a range of programs through collaboration with Kids Hope Mentors, Isabella Gardens Retirement Village, Tuggeranong Child and Family Centre and ACT Playgroups. Eligibility/ Other Requirements: Prior to commencing in this role: A minimum of four years full time (or equivalent) tertiary study leading to the award of a recognised school teaching qualification. A current full teaching registration with the ACT Teacher Quality Institute (TQI) (or eligibility for teacher registration with the ACT TQI). A current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required.
