We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Groundsman to join our team and ensure that our grounds are always at their best! Stretton State College is seeking a Schools Officer, Grounds for a permanent full-time position. About Us: Stretton State College is a high performing P-12 school located on the Southside of Brisbane (approximately 35 minutes from the CBD) comprising two campuses with an enrolment of nearly 3500 students. We have worked hard to establish a school which has a strong values base and strives to ensure a culture of high expectations for students and staff. About the Role: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Perform regular maintenance of sports fields, including mowing, line marking, aeration, and reseeding to ensure optimal playing conditions and apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides as needed, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Maintain gardens, hedges, and landscaped areas, including pruning, planting, mulching, and weeding. Monitor and address the irrigation needs of sports fields and gardens, including the maintenance of sprinkler systems. Inspect and repair sports field equipment, including goalposts, nets, and benches, and manage turf health through soil testing, pest control, and disease management practices. Remove debris, rubbish, and fallen leaves to maintain a clean and professional appearance and collaborate with the team to implement seasonal landscaping and maintenance schedules. Support the preparation and setup of sports events, including marking fields and arranging outdoor facilities. Highly desirable skills and experience: Previous experience in groundskeeping, particularly in maintaining sports fields, is highly desirable. Strong understanding of turf management, including irrigation, soil health, and pest control. Ability to safely operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment and machinery such as mowers, tractors, and line markers. Knowledge of line marking for sports fields and basic carpentry skills are an advantage. Benefits: A supportive and inclusive team environment.
