An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated, self-directed person to join our friendly team at Narbethong Special School, Woolloongabba as a permanent full-time Schools Officer, responsible for maintaining school grounds and facilities. Narbethong Special School is a small inner-city school for Vision Impaired students. About Narbethong Special School Narbethong is a small, unique school which provides specialist teaching for students with vision impairment. We are located in Woolloongabba, Brisbane. There is no catchment area. Eleven of our teaching staff have specific university qualifications in teaching vision impairment. Other teachers have gained thorough understanding through guidance and professional development over their years of working at the school. About The Role This is a OO2 progression position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the OO2 classification with eligibility for progression to the OO3 level once specific criteria have been met. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of OO2 to OO3 classification range. Key Accountabilities, Include But Are Not Limited To: Demonstrated ability to maintain grounds and facilities. Ability to conduct minor repairs and maintenance (reactive and planned) to grounds and facilities (expect jobs that require qualified tradesperson). Proven experience working with machinery, including maintenance and record keeping. Waste management. Capability to perform activities consistent with workplace health and safety guidelines. Ability to liaise with various internal and external personnel (e.g., Tradespersons) on a variety of repair and maintenance issues. Responsible for a range of activities required by the administration team. Further Role Specific Criteria Our Ideal Candidate Will Possess: Knowledge of or ability to gain knowledge of tools and equipment including school mowers. Maintenance and beautification of school grounds and gardens. An ability to work independently in maintaining school grounds and facilities. Good communication skills with staff and students.
