Applications close Monday 24 February 2025 at 11.59PM Overview Work type: Ongoing - Full Time Salary: $95,102 - $107,905 Grade: VPSG4 Occupation: Engineering Location: East Gippsland Reference: 5917About the Role The Scoping and Development Engineer sits within Regional Transport and is the project management lead for a range of transport infrastructure projects that will be delivered in Regional Victoria (Gippsland). The Scoping and Development Engineer will: liaise and work with a range of subject matter experts to identify and manage project risks. identify and assess project options to determine the projects recommended scope and cost. lead financial monitoring and reporting activities of projects. manage the delivery of preconstruction activities to ensure projects are ‘delivery ready’. produce high quality documentation ready for handover for construction ensuring stakeholder requirements are achieved. Adherence to Guidelines: The Scoping and Development Officer has developed project designs in accordance with the DTP technical guidelines. Effective Project Design: Ensures the proposed project designs are fully scoped, feasible, costed and documented in accordance with DTP design principles and the DTP Project Management Framework and relevant Project Management tools. Stakeholder Management: Requirements from multiple complex stakeholders have been taken into consideration and effectively integrated into project designs. Team Cohesion: The incumbent has worked efficiently and has provided constructive contribution as part of a successful design team. Promote and support safe, inclusive and flexible team operations. Key Selection Criteria The Department of Transport and Planning is seeking a highly skilled Scoping and Development Engineer to join their team. In this role, you will collaborate with stakeholders, users, and experts to co-create solutions that meet user needs. You will gather insights, build prototypes, and lead testing efforts to validate strategies, ensuring that decisions are made within agreed timelines. You will apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address issues using policy and process guidelines, while seeking guidance when necessary. Your responsibilities will include managing project delivery by defining tasks, coordinating work activities, and monitoring progress to ensure outcomes are achieved on time. You will also guide others in using digital and technological tools relevant to your area of work, while understanding the impact of internal IT systems on daily operations. With a strong focus on customer needs, you will tailor services to meet customer requirements and manage risks to ensure successful service delivery. The role requires the ability to work effectively within a team, demonstrate leadership, and deliver quality outcomes for the department. To succeed in this role, you should be able to manage competing priorities, work under pressure, and maintain a proactive approach in driving projects forward.
