Our client is an established and growing builder with offices based in South Melbourne.Due to continued growth, the business has now decided to in-source their Finance responsibilities, and as such are now hiring someone to manage internally the business's Finances. This is a standalone role that will also have support from an external CFO. The purpose of this role will include improving financial control, accountability, and efficiency through robust systems, policies, and processes; aligning with the strategy set by the Commercial Director.This role will be best suited to a CPA-qualified professional relatively early on in their industry career. Those working in Accountancy practice seeking their first move in industry are welcome to apply, although some degree of Construction industry knowledge/experience would be preferable. The firm is a dynamic, growing business and this position will be best suited to someone energetic and ambitious. This is a unique opportunity with a clear progression pathway to CFO, should the successful candidate desire such.The Role Key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) the following:Financial Management & Reporting Prepare and oversee financial statements (monthly, quarterly, annual). Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance. Manage cash flow, forecasting, and liquidity. Oversee Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payables, payroll, and banking functions. Maintain internal controls, fixed asset registers, and ad-hoc reporting for stakeholders. Budgeting & Forecasting Lead the budgeting process for company revenue, costs, and overheads. Conduct financial forecasts, variance analyses, and P&L analysis. Support project teams with financial forecasting. Project Accounting & Cost Control Track project costs, revenues, and profitability. Ensure accurate job costing and monitor project budgets. Manage work-in-progress calculations and provide financial insights to project teams. Compliance & Risk Management Ensure compliance with SOPA, tax regulations, and reporting standards. Manage audits, insurance, loans, and trade finance facilities. Handle supplier and subcontractor credit terms and trading conditions. Technology & System Management Implement and optimise financial systems (e.g., Procore, Power BI). Enhance process automation and maintain accurate project cost data. The Person The ideal candidate will join bringing to the table the following skills and prior experience:Prior experience as a Senior Accountant / Finance Manager; ambitious and seeking next step in career. Construction industry exposure is essential, ideally from small-to-medium sized businesses. CPA qualified and ideally trained from an established accountancy practice (Tier 1 / Tier 2 would be very highly favoured).
