About the Team Joining the Development team at ARTC means being part of a dynamic group focused on growing the business and enhancing our overall commercial performance. About the Opportunity Reporting to the Manager - Corporate Affairs, the Senior Adviser - Corporate Affairs will be responsible for developing and supporting strategic engagement plans and driving advocacy to build and protect ARTC's reputation, whilst aiming to support the company's ambition to drive growth of freight on rail. The role will be tasked with, and accountable for, shareholder relations, government relations including ARTC's structured engagements with state transport bodies and Senate Estimates, media relations (both proactive and reactive), crisis and issues management, stakeholder engagement and industry engagement and advocacy. A key part of the role will be for the Senior Adviser - Corporate Affairs to drive engagement and advocacy outcomes supporting the General Manager Corporate Affairs with ARTC's industry partners and stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: Support the Manager - Corporate Affairs in the development and execution of stakeholder, government and industry engagement plans to build and expand on key relationships at a local, state, and federal level. Support, develop and manage the execution of marketing and advocacy to build ARTC's profile both B2B and with industry and government. Provide advice and support in the day-to-day relationship with ARTC's shareholders and respond to requests for information and advice as necessary. In partnership with the General Manager Corporate Affairs and Corporate Affairs Manager, respond to major network incidents. Proactively manage issues (including media relations) that have a reputational impact on ARTC and its operations. Support the advocacy of public policy responses on key focus areas in collaboration with teams across the business. Execute external advocacy plans to support the growth of the business and enhance ARTC's reputation. Identify opportunities to increase awareness of the organisation's economic and social benefits, corporate strategy and industry leadership with key government and industry stakeholders. Facilitate trusted and valued relationships with key industry organisations on priority policy issues. Support provision of informed advice to senior leaders on key political and strategic issues as relevant to the business. Support the Manager - Corporate Affairs in the execution of Senate Estimates appearances three times per year, in addition to supporting any State or Federal inquiries as necessary. What do we want from you? To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate: Experience working in government or government relations, corporate affairs or a related discipline and strong understanding of the local, state, and federal political landscape around Australia. Ability to quickly understand complex issues, their intersection between business strategy and the external environment, and effectively communicate to senior stakeholders. Ability to persuasively articulate an organisation's advocacy position via government submissions, briefing papers, presentations or direct engagement. Ability to provide sound, strategic advice, as well as execute tactical tasks. Experience working with government, industry partners and a broad set of external stakeholders. Experience managing media (proactive and reactive) and media relations. B2B and key marketing experience to help drive business outcomes in line with business strategy. What will you get from us?
