About the Job Position Title: Senior Analyst, Commercial AdvisoryJob Family: Financial Planning & AnalysisSalary: Competitive daily rateDuration: Initial 12-month contractWorkplace: Dynamic work environment About the Role We are seeking a Senior Analyst, Commercial Advisory to support the Financial Planning & Performance Improvement of a well-known University. This role involves developing, implementing, and operating effective financial planning and analysis, including the University Strategic Plan, long-range forecasts, and the annual budget. The Senior Analyst will also support performance improvement functions, including benefits realization reporting and budgeted initiatives such as Strategic Investment funded (SIF) projects. Key Responsibilities Lead the development and implementation of the University budget and strategic plans. Continuously improve financial models, systems, and reporting for effective decision-making. Engage with stakeholders to deliver accurate, timely financial analysis and support performance. Provide proactive, outcomes-focused decision support and guidance to ensure an efficient, effective, and value-added budget process. Encourage effective stakeholder collaboration and engagement in key financial analysis activities. Support the preparation and maintenance of the University Annual Budget, including key financial statements. Continuously enhance the budget and financial planning process, systems, training, and communications. Develop financial models and applications, provide complex financial analysis, and create value-added reports. Develop benefit tracking methodologies and regularly report tracked and realized benefits to senior management. Work collaboratively with the Business Performance and Management Reporting & Integrity Units. Provide first-level functional support for Hyperion Planning modules and support the development of training materials, FAQs, and user guides. Undertake any other projects or duties as directed by the Supervisor or Finance Director. Education and Certifications Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience. Membership of a recognized professional accounting body (e.g., CA or CPA) is preferred. Skills and Experience Ability to absorb high volumes of information and translate concepts into practical business models. Strong ability to balance competing priorities and meet deadlines. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build productive relationships with a broad range of stakeholders. Initiative and commitment to continuous improvement. Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills. Commitment to ongoing professional development. Excellent attention to detail and commercial business acumen. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Self-motivated and able to work effectively under minimal supervision. Relevant work experience in a complex, large organization, preferably in the higher education/tertiary sector. Experience in business partnering, financial modeling, and developing, tracking, and reporting KPIs. Experience with large enterprise-wide financial packages such as PeopleSoft and business performance management reporting systems such as Hyperion.
