Senior Cloud and Automation Engineer RFQ ID: LH-01839 ASD 2025 These opportunities do not have the ability to obtain sponsorship for a security clearance (including applicants who currently hold a security clearance seeking to upgrade). ABOUT THIS ROLE ASD requires a 2 x EL2 equivalent Cloud Automation Specialists for the delivery of a scalable and secure cloud automation to support ASD's resiliency goals and objectives for PROTECTED capabilities while also considering dependency and dependent systems and services. Additionally, the candidate must work with ASD customers to design cost effective, secure and resilient cloud based PROTECTED solutions. Furthermore, they must identify opportunities to consolidate, simplify, streamline, and continually improve cloud based or cloud utilising internal and customer capability. Candidates require a minimum active NV1 clearance level, with ability to obtain and maintain AGSVA TSPV clearance level. Candidates must be willing to undergo ASD's Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to engagement. ASD will not sponsor candidates to upgrade their security clearances in order to apply for the role. Long contracts (12 months+) available. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Drive and lead the selection and integration of automation tools, ensuring alignment of business and technical requirements. Design, implement and optimise automation workflows to streamline operational processes and increase efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement automation solutions that improve productivity and reduce manual effort. Provide technical expertise and guidance on automation strategies, tools and best practices to team members and stakeholders. Monitor and troubleshoot automation systems to ensure smooth operations and rapid incident resolution. Drive automation initiatives that align with industry and emerging technologies for innovation and service improvement. Design and implement policy to meet corporate and technology boundaries. Identify and advise Design Authority on technical risks and mitigations. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE NEEDED The role requires candidates to possess the following skills and qualifications: Essential: Experience in Bicep/ARM with Azure DevOps (version control, pipelines, work items). Strong leadership experience and skills. Excellent organisational and communication skills. Desirable: Experience managing complex project. Technical Skills: Extensive experience in design, deployment configuration & optimisation of Azure Cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS). Strong expertise in Azure DevOps tools, methodologies, best practices & technologies (Azure Bicep/ARM, version control, pipelines & work items). Proficient in PowerShell scripting to automate tasks, manage users and configure Azure services. Proactive approach to identifying & troubleshooting issues. Advanced problem solving skills.
