About the Project John Holland in partnership with McConnell Dowell (Joint Venture) are delivering the Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro Project in Far North Queensland. This is an innovative project that involves the world-first conversion of a disused gold mine into a pumped storage hydroelectric power generation facility in far-north Queensland (270km NW of Townsville). The project will see the conversion of two existing mine pits into reservoirs, involving the construction of significant underground infrastructure including a large powerhouse cavern and waterway shafts and tunnels to allow the transfer of water between upper and lower reservoirs to generate power during peak periods and return water back to the upper reservoir during off peak periods. This project received funding from ARENA as part of ARENA's Advancing Renewables Program and is a gamechanger for the clean energy industry worldwide as it is an entirely new approach to large-scale energy storage. We are currently recruiting for a talented and driven Senior Commissioning Engineer (Mechanical/HVAC Focused) to deliver this iconic project. Responsibilities of the role: Report directly to the contractor commissioning manager and coordinate with the OEM Commissioning Specialist of the area assigned. Manage mechanical supervision & tradesmen. Liaise with all stakeholders throughout the delivery phase from construction through commissioning. Ensure that mechanical pre-commissioning checks have been adequately completed before System Commissioning. Manage under the direction of the OEM all the mechanical commissioning activities relating to Dry and Wet commissioning, with a heavy focus on rotating equipment, including the rectification of defects. Manage under the direction of the BoP contractors all the mechanical commissioning activities including the rectification of defects. Support the commissioning and balancing of the tunnel ventilation & fire life safety systems. Review OEM and BoP Commissioning documentation and support preparation of work packs using the CCMS. Assist in delivering on-the-job training on mechanical equipment for Operations and Maintenance operators and technicians. Adhere to ‘Permit to Work’, tagging and isolation procedures. Ensure that all occupational health and safety and workplace regulations are met. Ensure that all environmental and quality assurance targets are met. Assist in preparing Risk Assessments.
