Senior Database and Systems Administrator - Financial Business Systems Education (Organisation site )Financial Services Branch - Finance, Procurement and Facilities Division The Financial Business Systems unit are looking for someone who is dynamic, eager to learn and push the envelope when it comes to achieving results and delivering outcomes. We are seeking a Senior Database and Systems Administrator with at least 6 years of work experience to join our team. This role combines database and system administration responsibilities primarily focusing on managing large SQL Server databases and supporting the development of financial reporting solutions on an ad-hoc basis. Your Role: In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the health, performance, and security of our SQL Server databases. Your responsibilities will include: Provide technical database, analysis, design, implementation and application administration support and work within a team of developers in the SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) environment. Support and maintain SQL servers including monitoring, backup, data migrations and upgrades. Address issues related to database availability and data integrity and actively monitor database performance. Provide technical expertise and advice to achieve specified business objectives, in areas of business applications, utilities, relational databases, reporting tools and other development technologies. Provide consultancy services to assist programmers in the optimisation of databases development. Build working relationships with customers and team members through effective communication skills and analyse business requirements to provide design guidance and advice. Actively develop, implement and maintain standards, guidelines and knowledge base articles for database installation, administration and support while ensuring compliance to change control processes, relevant industry standards, government and departmental policies. Applying and updating MSBI environment certificates and actively engage with multiple teams (network operations, security, firewall etc) to maintain and secure the MSBI systems. This role reports to the Technical Manager, Financial Business Systems, Financial Services, Finance, Procurement and Facilities Division. About You: While there are no mandatory qualifications required for this position, it would be highly desirable for the successful applicant to possess: A minimum of 6 years' proven experience in Database and Systems Administration. Experience in SQL report development is a plus. An advocate for best practices and business process optimisation and improvement to support the business and Corporate clients within the Department of Education. Effective communicator and collaborator, able to work closely with development teams, analysts, and business stakeholders to support departmental initiatives. A degree or postgraduate qualification in information technology. The Financial Business Systems team embraces an inclusive and high-performing workplace.
