About the Division of Operations and Commercial The Division of Operations and Commercial at Western Sydney University is dedicated to the strategic planning, development, and maintenance of the University's infrastructure, properties, and commercial activities. We work collaboratively with all areas of the University to support learning, teaching, and research activities while preserving the unique aesthetics of our campuses. Our division also manages the University's sustainability agenda and ensures a safe and healthy environment for all campus users. The Opportunity As a Senior Design Manager, you will lead the design services team, ensuring our campus infrastructure reflects the University’s strategic vision and transformation goals. Your expertise will guide the design process, ensuring alignment with functional requirements and achieving design excellence. By providing strategic and technical advice, you will support senior-level decision-making and contribute to the timely and cost-effective delivery of projects. Your responsibilities will include managing design strategies for campuses and infrastructure projects, fostering innovation, and delivering transformative outcomes. You will oversee design services, coordinate stakeholder engagement, and manage consultant and contractor relationships. Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders will be pivotal in ensuring project parameters align with strategic objectives. As a leader, you will motivate your team to collaborate, share knowledge, and continuously improve, while supporting their professional development and performance. This is a full-time, ongoing position based at Western’s Hawkesbury campus, although travel to other University campuses may be required. Flexible arrangements are available to work at other campuses within the Western network. Please review the position description for further information. About You We are seeking a registered architect with at least 10 years of professional experience and demonstrated success in managing all facets of design within a complex organisation. Your ability to lead teams, engage stakeholders, negotiate contracts, and deliver high-quality outcomes will be essential. Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, combined with a thorough understanding of regulatory and contractual requirements, will make you a key contributor to the University’s infrastructure strategy.
