The Tasmanian State Service (TSS) is the largest employer in Tasmania, with over 28,000 employees providing services to the Tasmanian community at all levels. The Senior Environmental Officer will undertake regulation, compliance, and management activities in the areas of wastewater, waste, mining, finfish farming, industrial operations, or contaminated land, and waste systems. Provide high-level policy, professional, and technical advice on a wide range of environmental issues. Manage incidents, complaints, and notifications in respect to environmentally relevant incidents. Undertake inspections and compliance audits of regulated activities. Hours per Fortnight 73.50 hours per fortnight (minimum 58.80 hours, by negotiation). Period of Appointment 18 months or until the return of substantive occupant, whichever is sooner. Minimum Requirements A degree or other qualifications in a discipline relevant to the position or demonstrated practical experience in environmental management or regulation at an equivalent level. Previous experience in incident response, or the ability to acquire skills and knowledge in this area.
