About the Role: The Senior Health and Medical Adviser leads the implementation of occupational health and medical processes and programs for the Australian region. The role will oversee injury/illness management, fitness for work programs, medical services contractors, medical/health systems administration, site-based medics and response planning, and require some travel to remote sites (including offshore) to build relationships, and support sites with health initiatives and assurance activities. The ideal candidate will have experience or a demonstrated interest in implementing psychosocial health and safety risk management at a regional or corporate level. The position is offered on a permanent basis. Duties & Responsibilities: Based from our head offices in Perth, the role reports into the Health Manager – Australia, and will have remit covering the Woodside workforce in the region. On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible to: Oversee injury and illness management and return to work programs for the Australian Region, including coordination of workers compensation claims consultants. Lead fitness for work for the Australian region supporting the business and overseeing AOD testing programs, periodic medical and health surveillance programs, and fatigue risk management. Act as subject matter expert for occupational health by coaching and advising Health and Safety Advisors, HR professionals, operational leadership, and supporting health process verification and assurance activities. Coordinate reviews of medical emergency response plans to support best practice emergency response preparedness. Act as system owner or focal point for health management software (e.g. Cority, Solv, Telehealth, etc.). Lead the development of the Mental Health and Wellbeing strategy, facilitate psychosocial health and safety risk assessments, incident enquiries, and influence health promotion activities for the region. Coordinate medical and allied health service providers to deliver contracted services. Govern and endorse injury and illness data classification and provide input into HSE performance reporting. Lead or participate in health and safety event investigations and share lessons learned to improve HSE outcomes. Participate in industry working groups to improve health practices (CME, Safer Together). Coach and mentor HSE professionals and medical administrators. Influence health strategy for company and region. Skills & Experience: We are looking for someone who can bring a Tertiary level qualification in a Health-related discipline. Desirable degrees include Medicine, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Exercise Sciences. This will be coupled with considerable experience in HSE roles working for a large operator or contractor in the energy, mining or resources industry. Your background will include practical hands-on experience in allied health or a nursing/medical-related role (e.g., injury management coordination, occupational health nurse/medic onsite). Some specific experiences you will bring to the role may include: Experience overseeing Workers Compensation claims management. Experience managing self-insurance is highly desirable. Experience managing medical services contractors. Working knowledge of health and injury management software (e.g., Cority, Solv, etc.). Experience applying Australian health legislation and industry reporting standards (e.g. regulatory notifications, injury/illness classification).
