About the position We are looking for an experienced Senior Ladies' Headwear and Accessories Designer who is capable of creating products and prints for our headwear, spanning coastal, summer, and winter lifestyle brand. In this role, you will be responsible for designing new headwear and accessory products, bringing fresh ideas to the Ladies' Headwear and Accessories department while staying ahead of evolving seasonal trends and prints. You will lead the design & development process of the ranges with brand direction and presentation of category collections. This creative, ‘hands on’ role is responsible for ensuring all creative requirements, technical standards and critical dates are met whilst managing 1 staff member and the end-to-end product development of your ranges. Demonstrating strong leadership skills, a positive culture and leading by example with flexibility is a key component of the role. Key duties and responsibilities: Research and travel, both locally and internationally for latest trends. Research web and social media. Collaborate with Brand Manager to create seasonal trend direction and inspiration mood boards. Research, design and develop new seasonal collections with innovative techniques and quality functional products. Collaborate with print houses and graphic design teams to oversee and implement print sourcing, concept development, and direction. Oversee the development and execution of prints for headwear and accessory collections. Work closely with the Brand Manager to understand past sales data (best and worst sellers) and identify opportunities for newness. Sound understanding of costings and ability to engineer or re-imagine designs to fit into target margins / FOB costs. Critical Path Management & Ownership to achieve company timelines across all processes & categories. Sourcing, designing, and developing all quality fabrications, raw materials, blocks, trims, linings. Creative design and development of all branding requirements including labels, hardware, embroideries and trims. Identify opportunities for positive social, ethical and environmental change within the range. To be successful, you will have: 5+ years experience as a senior Designer in the Accessory or Apparel industry, ideally with previous experience working across ladies products or accessories. Demonstrated experience in all aspects of product design and ability to bring the product to market. Proficient in Adobe Suite. PLM experience highly regarded. Strong communicator, mentor and manager, a team player, with a ‘can-do’ outlook. Ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Experience traveling internationally for trend research, competitor analysis, and material sourcing. Experience working closely with international vendors and factories on sampling, cost negotiation, and product approvals. A positive outlook, vibrant personality, and a team player.
