Job Description The Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor in Clinical Education is expected to make significant contributions to the teaching effort of the School of Medicine and Dentistry, as well as playing a major leadership role in the teaching, assessment, course convenorship and curriculum development activities relevant to the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program. In addition, they will provide academic leadership to foster teaching innovations and excellence in scholarship, service and/or professional activities. A primary responsibility of this role will be the oversight of Phases 2 and 3 of the MD program (based at the Sunshine Coast Health Institute and Sunshine Coast University Hospital), comprising the final two years of the four-year curriculum. This will include coordinating the teaching and learning, assessment, and placement activities; and provision of academic support for students undertaking Phases 2 and 3 of the program. Additionally, the position will be responsible for oversight of the development, delivery and quality assurance of clinical assessments in Phases 2 and 3 of the four-year MD program which encompasses the Year 3 and Year 4 clinical rotations, as well as curriculum and course development and course convenorship in Phase 3. The role includes direct contributions to the delivery of teaching in the MD program including team-based learning, capstone courses, clinical skills and communication skills. It will also involve collaboration with academic colleagues across the campuses and sites at which the medical program is delivered to ensure a consistent, high-quality student learning experience. Depending on the academic and professional qualifications of the successful candidate, appointment will be made at either Senior Lecturer (Level C) or Associate Professor (Level D). This is a continuing, full-time position primarily based at Sunshine Coast Health Institute and Sunshine Coast University Hospital. This position can also be available as two joint part-time positions (at 0.5 FTE x 2 OR 0.6 FTE and 0.4 FTE). Salary Range The full time equivalent base salary will be Academic Senior Lecturer (Level C) range $135,319 - $156,035 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $158,323 - $182,561 per annum. The full time equivalent base salary will be Academic Associate Professor (Level D) range $162,935 - $179,505 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $190,634 - $210,020 per annum. Qualifications Possession of a medical degree from a recognised educational institution. Possession of a PhD or equivalent qualification in an appropriate discipline, or evidence of progress towards completion; and / or Professional Fellowship. Current registration or eligibility for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) as a medical practitioner. Demonstrated expertise and experience in leading and managing curriculum, courses / modules and assessment within an MD curriculum.
