The Regional Head of Legal in Asia-Pacific plays a vital part within our Legal, Compliance and Risk department. Reporting directly to the Chief of Legal, Compliance and Risk, this role oversees all legal matters across the Asia-Pacific region, including managing a small team. This critical position provides commercially focused legal advice to drive business growth and protection. Key responsibilities include guiding the business through complex regulatory issues, identifying potential risks, and implementing effective solutions to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations. As a member of our Leadership Team, you will offer strategic and leadership support to the department, key initiatives, and operational methods. The role focuses on Australia, while also covering new and emerging markets in the Asia-Pacific region. Key Responsibilities: Supporting the organization with local and international regulatory engagement. Supporting the delivery of key projects and business opportunities. Providing expert advice on legal and regulatory issues across various levels of the business related to financial services regulations. Collaborating closely with senior stakeholders and the business to achieve timely results in the pursuit of strategic objectives. Leading the Asia-Pacific legal function and a small team navigating a global complex environment. Managing external counsel and legal expenses. Active participant in the Group Operating Committee and other governance forums, as required. About You: This role suits a business-focused commercial lawyer with experience gained in a reputable law firm and/or in-house legal team. A background in financial services, financial technology, and/or another highly regulated sector is highly preferred. You possess sound judgment and communicate effectively in a clear and concise manner. Further, you are adaptable, resourceful, and have a hands-on approach. With a calm and resilient nature, you demonstrate the ability to negotiate and influence.
