Senior Manager, Gippsland and Regional Partnerships Job posted: 28/01/2025 Organisation: Department of Transport and Planning Occupation: Planning Reference: 6557 About the Role This is an ongoing fulltime role. As the Senior Manager, you will lead the State Planning Services team across the Gippsland and Regional Partnership regions. Your responsibilities will include providing high-quality statutory and strategic planning advice and services to the Minister for Planning on matters related to planning, development, and land use. Additionally, you will review planning scheme amendments and related briefs, offering recommendations to department executives and the Minister for Planning. Furthermore, this role involves fostering relationships with key stakeholders across the region, particularly local councils and government agencies. Success in this position requires extensive experience and expertise in statutory and strategic land use planning, along with a strong understanding of regional planning and development issues. Lead, coordinate and monitor the delivery of statutory planning services across the Gippsland and Regional Partnership. Prepare and oversee the preparation of high-quality authoritative reports, papers, presentations, briefs, and correspondence. Provide high-level and timely advice to the Minister and the executive team of the Group on significant planning issues within the Barwon South-West/Grampians region. Lead liaison and engagement with key stakeholders, partnering across different government departments, agencies, statutory authorities, local government, and other external stakeholders to ensure implementation of state planning policies. Drive quality and deliver operational outcomes that meet performance targets and create a climate of service excellence that ensures a consistent, coordinated, and integrated approach to statutory planning approvals, while exploring opportunities for efficiency improvements. Key Selection Criteria The Department of Transport and Planning seeks an experienced Senior Manager to lead key initiatives, drive outcomes, and manage stakeholder relationships within a dynamic and politically sensitive environment. This leadership role requires the ability to critically analyse complex issues, evaluate diverse perspectives, and develop innovative solutions that align with organisational goals and community needs. A strong background in project delivery is essential, with a focus on defining activities, managing resources, and ensuring outcomes are delivered on time and to a high standard. As a strategic leader, you will build and manage high-performing teams, integrating workforce planning into broader business strategies while championing service delivery excellence. Qualifications and Experience Mandatory Relevant qualification or extensive experience in land use planning or a related field. Knowledge of statutory and strategic land use planning in Victoria including the Planning and Environment Act 1987. Experience in managing complex planning projects and significant planning scheme amendments. Significant experience in team management. Regional planning experience.
