The Thunderbird Mineral Sands Project (Thunderbird) is located mid-way between Derby and Broome, in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Thunderbird is one of the largest and highest-grade zircon mineral sands deposits in the world and contains valuable heavy minerals including ilmenite, zircon, leucoxene, and rutile, which are extracted and exported via the Port of Broome. About the Role Residing in the West Kimberley and reporting to the Supervisor Maintenance, this is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Fitter to join our growing mining company, responsible for executing planned and unplanned maintenance on fixed plant equipment, as well as playing an integral role in shutdown maintenance requirements. This role will support the Supervisor Maintenance in coaching the team with regards to execution of tasks and ensuring safety standards are maintained. Residential Kimberley Roster: 8 days on 6 off, Bus in Bus out FIFO Option: 8 days on, 6 days off Key Responsibilities Safely perform mechanical maintenance tasks to a high-quality standard Meet all requirements under work orders and attachments when completing work tasks, ensuring documentation remains relevant to the situation and environment, updating as required Complete administrative processes to ensure parts and materials are available as required Proactively ensure preventative maintenance on the plant occurs where possible to mitigate major maintenance Ensure the work environment remains safe by maintaining a high standard of housekeeping throughout the workshop and the plant Conduct plant inspections to maximize equipment utilization Carry out on call duties on a rostered basis whilst on site Provide leadership of the team when Supervisor is on leave/absent Coach, mentor and guide team to ensure skills are developed Ensure stores and workshop are maintained to a 5s standard About You Hold a mechanical or related trade certificate or qualification Hold a current WA C-Class driver’s licence Current Working at Heights & Confined Space Tickets, or willingness to obtain Extensive experience within the mining industry working on mineral processing plant equipment, including spiral, magnetic separators, thickeners, pumps, screens and conveyors Experience with preventative maintenance systems Experience in a leading hand or coaching role Hold a demonstratable and genuine value for safety Ability to read and interpret technical reports and drawing Excellent interpersonal skills with employees across all levels of the organisation SAP Maintenance Management System experience Our Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion KMS is committed to advancing an inclusive and diverse workforce culture and environment where people feel comfortable to be themselves.
