Job Description About the Role This role sits within the Policy & Advocacy (P&A) team, which develops medical and health policies. The Senior P&A Officer will work with Fellows and trainees to harness their expertise and experience to develop compelling, relevant and timely health policies to improve the health and well-being of the community. Duties will include but are not limited to: Develop policy, advocacy and communications strategies to support College policy priorities Develop policies, position statements and advocacy materials based on input from Fellows and Trainees. Develop and implement strategies to engage the College membership Identify opportunities for innovative and engaging advocacy initiatives Create and facilitate appropriate engagement with relevant stakeholders and initiatives across the College Research the evidence, literature base and external commentary on various health related topics Prepare background papers, submissions and briefs to inform decision making and contribute to advocacy Participate in the provision of rapid responses to health policy issues as they arise Remain up-to-date and well informed on health policy matters, advocacy tools and resources This is a fixed term position until January 2026, working 2 days per week - we are flexible on the days worked. Desired Skills and Experience About You The successful candidate will have: Relevant tertiary qualifications eg. political science, communications health policy, or related discipline Experience in the development of health policies, position statements and briefing papers Highly developed analytical skills, political judgement and strategic thinking Strong skills in stakeholder engagement and relationship management Ability to work within a context of ambiguity and identify potential solutions Excellent written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated skills in preparing briefs and background analyses Ability to prioritise, multitask and manage deadlines Experience in utilising social media and technology for advocacy purposes Demonstrated ability to work in a team with a flexible approach to sharing tasks and working cooperatively Interested?
