Your Role: As part of our commitment to ensuring that all students share in the legacy of the Games', you will play a pivotal role in consulting and advising on strategies and actions that are needed to increase student participation in school sport, particularly among women and girls, people with a disability, people living in rural and remote areas, and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. As the Senior Policy Officer you will: Participate in policy and research activities on initiatives and issues impacting on the department's contribution to the objectives of the Elevate 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games Legacy Strategy. Provide support and advice to senior officers on a range of strategic development issues. Responsibilities include: Coordinate and provide strategic advice and social and economic analysis on education-related Games' legacy issues to enable quality executive decision making. Participate in, and coordinate aspects of, projects and teams to successfully formulate innovative and workable policy options and solutions for increasing participation in school sport to enhance inclusion, education outcomes, and the health and wellbeing of Queensland children and young people. Assist in the creation of frameworks for policy development and reform of physical activity and sport at school. Work collaboratively with internal and external partners on specific projects focused on achieving inclusion, educational outcomes and health and wellbeing through school sport. Participate in, and coordinate aspects of, research and assessment of strategic policy initiatives and development of strategic advice to the Minister, Director-General and senior officers of the department. Assist with the preparation of cabinet submissions, policy responses, speeches, articles, briefings and correspondence. Maintain effective communication and collaboration with internal and external networks, and liaise with senior officers or representatives in a range of government and non-government agencies on education-related Games legacy issues. Participate in a challenging, equitable, ethical and safe work environment for project staff, which encourages commitment, skills development, professional growth and continuous improvement. Maintain recent knowledge of issues and initiatives in school sport and Games' legacy at a state and national level.
