Senior Protective Services Officers undertake duties at a range of State Government Buildings, Courthouses and Schools.You will provide security services to Queensland Government infrastructure facilities to ensure the safety and security for the people of Queensland.The aim of this recruitment is to fill 003 vacancies across the Protective Services Group, inclusive of Translink/ Inala Hot Spot.Your Key Accountabilities The core capability requirements for this role are: Conduct observations of the interior and exterior of Government buildings and facilities, in addition to undertaking general inspection duties, mobile observation duties, contract staff supervision and other special duties related to the various work groups within Protective Services Group to ensure that a high level of security is maintained. Operate specialised security equipment and, when required, exercise the powers authorised under the Police Powers and Responsibilities Act 2000. Provide back-up assistance to other Protective Services Officers, particularly in critical incident situations. Control the entering of personnel to, and parking vehicles on, Government and designated property in accordance with policies and procedures. Detect and report fires and other building hazards and assist in the emergency evacuation of government buildings. Undertake activities and responsibilities in accordance with various procedural and policy manuals and the Police Powers and Responsibilities Act 2000. Ensure the quality and appropriateness of all communications with clients and members of the public are maintained at a high standard. Provide supervision, training, and support to other members of Protective Services Group. Role Requirements Mandatory Current First Aid Certificate Current Open C Class Licence. Other Successful completion of the Protective Services Officer Course facilitated by Protective Services Group is a pre-requisite for appointment to this position. Appointees may be required to participate in a 24-hour, 7-day roster with work hours equating to 38 hours per week. Relevant allowances apply. Applications to remain current for 12 months.
