$91,702 - $104,753 + up to 15.4% Superannuation Edinburgh - SA, Fishermans Bend - VIC The Role The Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) Work Health and Safety Strategy and Assurance team is looking for two (2) experienced Safety Professionals with specialised knowledge and experience. We are looking for passionate and dedicated Safety Professionals to be part of the Strategy and Assurance team. This team is responsible for monitoring the alignment and integration of Safety Management System elements, establishing suitable assurance programs; monitoring and reporting on key performance indicators.If you are an experienced Safety Professional with systems, assurance, data analysis and/or reporting experience, this role is ideal for you. Key skills for success will be a curious approach to all situations, commitment to continuous learning, teamwork, and excellent communication skills with an eye for details.As a Senior Safety Specialist, you will be accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex work health safety specialist work within an integrated workforce. You will be accountable to ensure compliance with legislative frameworks, Defence’s WHS policy and strategy requirements.These roles will lead systems integration, monitoring, assurance, and reporting, working with stakeholders from within Defence and DSTG.Key tasking will be in support of the Defence and DSTG Safety Management Systems (SMS) - DSTGSsafe.In particular: Coordinate and manage the development, implementation, monitoring, and performance reporting of work health and safety specialist activities specific to DSTG. Coordinate and oversee the DSTG Assurance and reporting program. Coordinate and lead systems integration projects aimed to improve safety and remove safety clutter. Develop, integrate, and monitor systems performance using data analysis techniques. Collaborate with other specialists (Hazard Leads) to ensure systems integration, assurance, and reporting aligns to support the DSTG Due Diligence framework and risk reporting. About our Team The DSTG Work Health and Safety Strategy and Assurance team engages with broader Defence to ensure alignment with the Defence SMS and implementation of the Defence WHS Strategy. This team supports the Chief Defence Scientist (CDS) and DSTG Leadership Team (DLT) with reporting in support of due diligence. This team works to support Hazard Leads and is part of the group safety function established to assist researchers in meeting safety and compliance obligations.The group safety function consists of two (2) Enabling Elements comprising Safety Operations and Safety Strategy and Assurance. These elements work cooperatively together to provide consistent professional WHS Enabling capability to support researchers in meeting the Defence I&ST Strategy.The Work Health and Safety Strategy and Assurance is delivered via a small team which has team members based on both the Fishermans Bend (Port Melbourne), Victoria, and Edinburgh (Adelaide), South Australia sites. These vacancies are for two (2) Senior Safety Specialists who can be established at either site.
