Job Description As a Senior Secondary Engineer , you will deliver high-quality, technically advanced secondary system designs for Australia’s largest infrastructure T&D projects. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to nationally significant developments, including the integration of renewable energy sources such as wind and solar farms into the grid, supporting Australia’s transition to a greener future. You will design and implement protection and control systems, lead technical innovation, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure reliable energy distribution. Key Responsibilities Design & Analysis : Develop detailed designs for protection, control, and SCADA systems for high-voltage substations, ensuring compliance with Australian standards and client specifications. Integration : Collaborate with primary, civil, and project teams to ensure seamless integration of secondary systems into high-voltage substations. Testing & Commissioning : Oversee factory and site acceptance testing, ensuring the functionality and reliability of protection and control schemes. Documentation : Prepare and review technical documentation, including single-line diagrams, protection logic diagrams, and SCADA interface designs. Technical Leadership : Provide expert guidance on secondary system designs for tenders and projects, ensuring best practices and innovative solutions. Mentorship : Support and mentor junior engineers, fostering their technical growth and project management skills. Compliance : Ensure all designs meet regulatory requirements, safety standards, and industry best practices. Required Skills and Competencies Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering. 10+ years of experience in secondary system design for high-voltage substations. Extensive knowledge of protection relays, SCADA systems, and communication protocols (e.g., IEC 61850, Modbus, DNP3). Proven experience with major manufacturers’ systems (e.g., Siemens, Schneider, SEL, ABB). Advanced understanding of secondary systems design principles, including fault analysis and relay coordination. Proficiency in software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and secondary design tools. Familiarity with Australian standards (e.g., AS2067, AS3000). Chartered Engineer (CPEng) preferred or eligibility to obtain it. Why Join ACCIONA?
