The St Vincent de Paul Society Canberra/Goulburn is seeking a Senior Service Support Officer to be the backbone of our Conference Support and Emergency Relief Call Centre (Helpline). About the Role Our Emergency Relief Helpline is the first point of contact for people seeking assistance, our volunteers or the general community connecting with the Society. Working as part of this customer centric team you will be the first point of contact providing high level support and advice to a broad range of people as well as connecting them to appropriate and sometimes critical services. You will provide guidance and training to volunteers, manage phone inquiries, ensuring quality service delivery, and maintaining vital records. You will also actively support our area based “Conference” volunteers (members), a key foundation of the Society, who come together to assist people in their local area by delivering on the ground services, giving them the “hand up” in their time of need. About You We are looking for a proactive individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills. You should have a service-oriented mindset, capable of quickly building rapport and trust with diverse individuals particularly over the phone. Demonstrated expertise working within Customer Support/Helpline and/or Call Centre environments along with experience in the community sector will be highly regarded. You will be organised and able to multi-task, specifically having the ability to record accurate information whilst undertaking phone calls and providing support. Advanced working knowledge of computer software packages including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams) is essential.
