Full time, continuing position Join a world-class hybrid theatre research facility and support cutting-edge, preclinical translational research Base Salary $108,557 - $118,267 + 17% superannuation About the opportunity As a Senior Technical Officer , Hybrid Theatre, you will supervise the technical operations of Sydney Imaging’s Hybrid Theatre facility, including supporting the research, training, teaching and industry activities carried out using a range of preclinical models. You will provide expert technical support and advice to researchers, students, clinicians and industry users using the hybrid theatre facility, providing collaborative research input for projects being undertaken at the work area. Your key responsibilities include: Working in the Sydney Imaging Core Research Facility and reporting to the Technical Facility Manager. Providing expert advice, technical and data analysis, research support and assistance to facility users and other technical staff. Managing the laboratory workplace, ensuring that the research, learning, and teaching requirements of the work area are met effectively. This includes project management, organising specific project requirements, setting up the theatre, and facilitating procedure days. Operating the imaging equipment and other ancillary equipment to support research, training, and teaching. Ensuring the laboratory is compliant with Workplace Health and Safety requirements. Overseeing the preparation of reporting and documentation, including ethics reporting for research projects that are being undertaken within the workplace. Providing effective support to key internal and external stakeholders and effective communications channels. About you Tertiary qualification in a relevant field combined with relevant experience (with a preference for prior experience in medical imaging and/or surgical theatre). Demonstrated skills in communication and broad stakeholder management (e.g. students, academic researchers, medical professionals, veterinary experts, and commercial entities) with proven ability to apply theoretical knowledge and techniques to meet key accountabilities. Experience in working with large animals in research settings is highly desirable. Ability to manage and independently operate medical imaging equipment in the hybrid theatre facility, or willingness to learn; and ability to train staff and users to use equipment. Experience with developing research projects, experimental design and preparing ethics submissions and grant applications is highly desirable. Highly organised, experience in facility management and able to multitask and oversee several research projects simultaneously. Knowledge of laboratory biological and safety procedures, as well as an acute awareness of safety regulations. Ability to work as part of a team in an effective collaborative way. Experience in working with research data management, including managing high-end medical and imaging data management systems (e.g., ICCA (Philips IntelliSpace Critical Care and Anaesthesia system) and PACS systems such as XNAT or similar) is desirable.
