Tasks & Responsibilities: Study blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine job, material, and equipment requirements. Select metal stock (stainless steel, galvanized iron, mild steel, aluminum, copper) and check sizes, gauges, and other dimensions against specifications. Mark out metal stock using templates, gauges, and other measuring instruments to ensure accuracy. Cut metal stock along guidelines using hand and power shears, guillotines, and drills. Shape and form cut metal stock into products using folding and bending machines, rollers, presses, and hammers. Fit and assemble components into final products by welding, riveting, soldering, brazing, and other joining methods. Finish products by polishing, filing, sanding, and cleaning assembled components to meet high-quality standards. Repair damaged sheet metal products and components, restoring their functionality. Specialise in fabrication or on-site assembly and installation of sheet metal products, ensuring precise and secure fittings. Produce intricate sheet metal components, including for aircraft or decorative copperwork, requiring advanced drawing and calculating skills. Operate CNC machinery to create precise metal components for various applications. Seal joints and prevent leaks in HVAC ducts and other applications, ensuring air/water-tight connections. Assist in custom fabrication for ornamental metalwork, industrial prototypes, or high-precision components. Qualification & Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience as a Welder and Sheetmetal Worker. Proficient in MIG, TIG, and ARC welding techniques. Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication: cutting, bending, welding, and finishing. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Experience with various metals such as stainless steel, galvanized iron, and aluminum. Experience with CNC machinery and precision tools. High attention to detail and commitment to quality work. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team. Knowledge of relevant safety protocols. Experience in working with Boom Lifts, demonstrating safe and competent operation of aerial work platforms (Boom Lift ticket). Experience in structural steelwork, including rebar and mesh fabrication. Certificate III or higher in Engineering or related qualifications.
