Job Description

About the role Futago is looking for a Signage & Wayfinding Designer to join our team. We attract a broad range of projects from school and hospital campuses – through to the proposed stadium at Macquarie Point. Working alongside our experienced directors, we're after a practical, strategic-minded designer who is quick at taking on new information and can adapt to our processes and systems as well as bring new knowledge to the studio. The role ideally spans a breadth of tasks from analysing and writing briefs, creating strategic wayfinding solutions at a high level, through to the physical design of signs. We work closesly with our suppliers on the design development, documentation and build of our designs. Ideally you're in Hobart and can work onsite in our inspiring studio. For us, physically being here, being able to go to site, meet clients face to face and understand the context is ideal. However we're open to hearing from people who can propose other ways of working. Depending on the applicant this role could become full-time if you're flexible about the kind of work you like doing — as a dynamic and leading design business there's always plenty going on. What you'll be doing Develop signage and wayfinding strategies and systems to guide people through interior and exterior spaces Design visually interesting and appropriate signage, including directional, informational, and identification signage Collaborate to understand project requirements and deliver innovative solutions Producedesign documentation and specifications for fabrication and installation Manage signage and wayfinding projects from concept to completion Conduct site surveys and assessments to inform signage and wayfinding design Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and relevant regulations What we're looking for Degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Environmental Design, or a related field Ideally a minimum 3 years of experience in signage and wayfinding design, preferably within the design, architecture, or construction industries Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and CAD software Strong understanding of typography, layout, and visual hierarchy principles Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and project management skills Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and clients Keen eye for detail and a passion for creating intuitive, user-friendly environments What we offer At Futago, we value work-life balance and offer a range of benefits to support our staff including: Inspiring studio space located on the top floor of a historic Salamanca warehouse.
