Site Health, Safety & Environmental Manager - Sunshine Sugar Harwood Sunshine Sugar, an Australian owned sugar milling and refining company, operates 3 sugar mills and a refinery in the Northern Rivers region of NSW. Identified as one of the largest agricultural and manufacturing sectors in the region, employing over 400 people directly and a further 2500 indirectly to support the local industry. The region, known for its stunning beaches, rivers, fishing and natural wonders, extends across seven shires including Tweed, Byron Bay, Ballina and the Clarence Valley. Harwood is situated on the Clarence River near the coastal and historical port town of Yamba. Site Health, Safety and Environmental Manager What's involved? This position provides leadership across the Harwood site in the Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) functions aimed at ensuring compliance, mitigating risk, educating team members and delivering continuous improvement through the development, implementation and standardisation of systems, processes, work methods and plans across the site. Reporting directly to the site operations manager with support from the group safety and environment manager based in Ballina. The main duties: Provide comprehensive advice and guidance on Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) operational and statutory requirements. Deliver expert technical support on HSE strategic objectives, systems and processes. Contribute and be an active member of the site leadership team. Coordinate and deliver effective injury management and work with area managers on effective return to work programs. We are looking for: Appropriate qualifications: Certificate IV work health & safety or equivalent, rehabilitation coordinator certification, first aid certification. Desirable: Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate discipline. Demonstrated experience in a HSE role, preferably in manufacturing. Demonstrated practical application of legislation / codes of practice. Experience with risk management, investigations and audit processes. Ability to manage stakeholders related to injury management and workers compensation. Demonstrated capacity to manage key stakeholders including key regulators and work effectively with team members. Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to make sound decisions based on a mixture of analysis, experience and judgement. Mentoring skills to promote a safe workplace culture.
