The Employer Our client’s diversified farming operation includes dryland and irrigated broadacre crops, hay production, and sheep production. It is situated on the alluvial plains on the Lachlan River, just 10km from Forbes, NSW. The district is a cropping area, and the Lachlan Valley is renowned for producing some of the finest quality hay. With the support of the Lachlan River, the company consistently delivers high-quality products tailored to a wide range of climates. They use cutting-edge technology to grow quality products, allowing them to effectively serve niche markets with precision and flexibility. The operation covers an area of approximately 3200 hectares, of this, 1600 hectares are used for growing dryland and irrigation crops such as wheat, canola, and oats for grain and hay production. The remaining 1600 hectares are used for the sheep operation, which consists of a 3500 self-replacing Merino flock primarily for wool production. Additionally, there are 1000 older ewes joined to Dorset rams for meat production, and this part of the operation is managed by a full-time stockman. The Role We are looking for a skilled individual who is experienced in farm machinery operations and truck driving to join the dynamic mixed farming team. The responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, general farm maintenance, ground preparation, irrigation, sowing, spraying, harvesting, mowing, raking, baling, and truck driving for transporting grain and hay. The business mainly operates modern John Deere tractors, New Holland hay equipment, international harvesters, and Kenworth trucks with triaxle tipper trailers or drop decks. Proficiency in operating prime movers will be necessary to handle grain and hay to efficiently transport it from the farm to clients within a 100km radius. Experience with AgWorld for recording daily data and implementing strategies to optimise production is highly desirable.
