Your Opportunity: This position is a Senior Social Worker responsible for providing high-level Social Work services including Maternity and Paediatric Services at Bundaberg Hospital. Clinical work undertaken will be of a complex nature and duties will be performed with a high degree of independence. The role will include but is not limited to: Domestic Violence issues; Unexpected patient outcomes (including psychological first aid); Bereavement services; Child protection issues; and Families in need of support. What we're looking for: Clinical Expertise: Demonstrated high level of understanding of the health environment in which clinical decisions will be made. Demonstrated high-level knowledge of Social Work practice theories, social legislation, and policies. Demonstrated expertise and skill in assessment and intervention relevant to Maternity and Paediatric services. Communication: Demonstrated high level ability to work effectively with members of other disciplines in a complex organisation and to liaise with community agencies. Demonstrated high level of verbal and written communication skills, flexibility, and a co-operative approach. Clinical Ability: Demonstrated ability to assess and respond in a professional manner to complex issues for patients, their families, and carers across health settings. Leadership: Demonstrated ability to promote professional standards, trust, open communication, and self-responsibility. Demonstrated ability to provide education, supervision, and support to less experienced Social Workers and students. Preferred Qualifications: Mandatory possession of a recognised degree in Social Work, and eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Overseas qualified Social Work candidates require a “certification of eligibility” letter from the AASW to confirm their eligibility for membership. Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and if applicable registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association. AASW CPE Accreditation; knowledge of contemporary child protection practices and standards; and previous experience in the acute hospital setting, is highly desirable. Why join us?
