Organisation: Department of Transport and Planning Occupation: Regulatory Governance and Compliance Reference: 6498 Strategy & Precincts is a Group within the Department of Transport and Planning, responsible for providing policy direction, planning and innovation leadership for integrated land and transport outcomes. The Data and Digital (D&D) division sits within Strategy & Precincts. Data & Digital provides the department with operational excellence for data & digital enabled services and project execution for large scale design and uplift initiatives. About the Role The Spatial Analyst sits within the Data & Digital Spatial Services team. Reporting to Location Referencing Lead, the role will work collaboratively with colleagues to integrate the Department of Transport’s data and applications, enabling and contributing to delivery of enhanced business and customer value across asset management, safety and location referencing services. Position Outcomes The individual would require to significantly contribute to high-quality data and analytics service provision, effective data management, and the modernization of data processing tools, enabling enhanced business value, customer-centric solutions, and improved decision-making through automation and integration. They have also supported improved CI/CD practices, advanced baked-in security, and strengthened stakeholder engagement, fostering a collaborative and flexible team environment while safeguarding sensitive information. Understands the impact of internal IT landscape on daily operations; Has broad understanding on implementation activities related to the introduction and ongoing maintenance of new digital and technology tools. Customer Focus (Applied) - Identifies and responds to customer requirements; Uses understanding of the customers’ context to tailor services and ensure outcomes are delivered; Effectively manages risks to service delivery. Critical thinking and problem solving (Applied) - Resolves issues through deep understanding or interpretation of existing guidelines. Where guidelines are not available, analyses ideas available and takes action through self, or in consultation with others to resolve problems. If required, determines additional information needed to make informed decisions. Applies critical thinking and problem-solving concepts in the right context. In addition to the above, the successful candidate must demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and collaboration by embracing changing priorities, fostering teamwork across organizational boundaries, aligning team efforts with strategic goals, and creating a supportive environment to address challenges and achieve impactful outcomes. Qualifications and Experience Mandatory Extensive experience in spatial data management, analysis, and visualisation. Strong understanding of spatial technologies, including ESRI GIS software, FME, spatial databases, and developing web mapping applications. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels. Tertiary qualifications would be highly regarded.
