The Opportunity The Specialist Family Violence Practitioner (SFVP) – CMCOP is a Full-Time, Fixed-Term role within Family Life’s Men’s Support Services team. The position focuses on delivering the Court Mandated Counselling Order Program (CMCOP), designed for individuals mandated by the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria to complete a Counselling Order. As part of this program, the SFVP provides structured, tailored interventions that promote self-reflection, increase motivation to seek further support, and develop strategies to create positive change. Through a mix of group sessions and individual counselling, this role supports participants in understanding their behaviour, managing emotions, building empathy, and setting goals for meaningful, long-term change. The SFVP works closely with clients to ensure compliance with court-mandated requirements, collaborates with Family Safety Advocates to prioritise victim-survivor safety, and upholds program standards to create a supportive, respectful learning environment. This role also includes managing risks, completing assessments, and providing referrals to additional support services when needed. The SFVP-CMCOP works across various Family Life locations, including Frankston, Mentone, Sandringham, Cheltenham, Ringwood, Dandenong, and remote/online settings. Key Responsibility Areas Providing intake, assessment, individual counselling, and case coordination for adults using family violence. Co-facilitating group interventions, including after-hours group facilitation. Conducting ongoing risk assessments and developing safety plans to mitigate risk and ensure safety. Ensuring that the needs, risks, and safety of women, children, and participants take priority at all times. Sharing risk relevant information as per MARAM responsibilities, including internal Family Safety Advocate workers, other service providers, and key stakeholders. Have an understanding of the Court process as part of the Court Mandated Counselling Orders Program. Assisting and leading the processes of breach applications and listing of revocations with the Courts. Delivering services to quality standards, complying with relevant legislation and contractual requirements. Maintaining professional documentation and administrative systems according to program, stakeholder, organisational, and legislative requirements, including planning and documentation of group and education programs. Ensuring data is captured in a timely manner on relevant databases and reflective of Family Life’s data integrity standards. Attending and contributing to regular individual supervision, community of practice, and monthly reflective practice groups. Other duties as directed by the Team Leader or Program Manager, Men’s Support Services. You are Bachelor qualified in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, Family Therapy, or a related field and have experience co-facilitating Men’s Behaviour Change Programs and/or group-based behavioural change interventions. You have a sound knowledge of the complexities of family violence and working with Adults Using Family Violence (AUFV) and have the proven ability to coordinate and oversee a caseload of AUFV.
