Specialist Medical Practitioner - Older Persons Mental Health Service (512151) Department of HealthCommunity, Mental Health & WellbeingCMHW - MH & Statewide Services Applications must be submitted by Monday 10 February, 2025 11:55 PM AEST Award/Classification: Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022, Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1-11 Employment type: Part Time Region: South Location: The Department of Health is seeking interest for a fixed term part-time Specialist Medical Practitioner to join the Older Persons Mental Health Service in Lenah Valley, Hobart. The Team: The Older Persons Mental Health Service (OPMHS) provides assessment and management for older people with mental illness, for people with dementias with psychiatric signs and symptoms, and for people with dementia with social complications. The OPMHS works in a multidisciplinary team (MDT) model. The OPMHS provides assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, or treatment and management recommendations. It also facilitates engagement of patients and families and friends with appropriate services. The specialist general practitioner plays an important role in providing holistic management for patients of the service. The Role: Support the Older Persons Mental Health Services (OPMHS) multidisciplinary team to manage the mental and physical health needs of clients of the OPMHS. Participate in quality improvement activities, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs, and research as required. Undertake comprehensive medical assessments which include taking history, performing physical examinations, requesting investigations, and providing or referring for treatments. Participate in case conferences with other team members to optimise individualised treatment and plan future care. Broad clinical skills to manage the day-to-day physical health needs of an elderly inpatient population with complex dementia and/or mental health challenges. Experience, or an interest in geriatrics and palliative care. Excellent communication skills to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds, including those with significant cognitive impairment. Details of appointment: Fixed term part-time, day worker position, working 60.8 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 31 August 2025. Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant. Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 - Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $216,300 - $310,389 per annum, pro rata + 11.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging. Salary Packaging: You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. Benefits available to eligible candidates: A range of leave entitlements, including study leave and Professional Development Support.
