Sports Coaches (multiple roles, various sports) Saint Stephens College is currently seeking Sports Coaches with high energy, good attitude and a strong knowledge and understanding of sport-specific safety and training principles and programs. Plus, our Coaches will have great organisational skills and will be able to engage students with sports in a motivating and inspiring way. The diverse range of sports offered to our students caters to varied interests and ability levels. In junior year levels, there is increased emphasis placed on enjoyment, fair participation and skill development and as our students move into the senior years results become an increasing part of shared team goals and successes. As a member of the Associated Private Schools (APS), which is a cluster of eight Gold Coast independent schools, the competition gives students the opportunity to compete in their choice of sport against other schools in the cluster. APS team sports are categorised into two seasons: Season one sports include Football, Hockey, Netball (girls), Rugby Union (boys), Tennis and Volleyball. Season two competitions comprise Australian Rules Football, Basketball, Cricket, Tennis, Softball (girls) and Water Polo. Season one, commencing, February 2025 Closing date of applications, Thursday 13 February 2025. The College reserves the right to shortlist and appoint prior to closing date. An extension to the closing date may also be applied, at the College's discretion. Saint Stephen’s College has a commitment to child safety and as such staff will be responsible for understanding and applying the College Child Protection Policy and Child Risk Management Strategy and associated policies and guidelines. Duties include but are not limited to: Supervise students and fulfill duty of care requirements, especially during any approved transportation and after training. Ensure the College expectations of students are always supported especially in relation to behaviour and uniform. Design, document and conduct effective training programs including individual sessions in a designated sport and attend games as the identified Coach of that particular team/s. Support all participants and engage with students in a motivating and encouraging manner. Demonstrate correct exercise technique and explanations and ensure safety of all participants. Evaluate and monitor student participation in the sport sessions (training and games) keeping appropriate records and maintain transparent communication with the Director of Sports for any student concerns. Administer first aid, if required and/or manage any incidents relating to your team as “first on scene” and complete all necessary documentation when required. Assist in sport field set up, ensuring that space, equipment and environment are safe and is set up prior to student arrival. Assist in the transporting of sports equipment, packing/unpacking/cleaning equipment in the sport storage area. Attend to face-to-face, email and telephone interaction with students, parents and team members. Complete administrative duties with an understanding of the need for confidentiality and the sensitivity of information. Role model friendliness, empathy, open-mindedness, with high standards of personal and professional integrity, fairness and an unbiased approach. Current CPR/First Aid required or willing to obtain prior to commencement Relevant coaching certification in the applicant’s sport Mandatory Clearances/Certifications Blue Card, in accordance with ‘No Card, No Start law’, as per the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 First Aid certification (or willingness to complete first aid training) APPLICATION PROCESS To ensure your application can be considered in full, all candidates must apply via the ‘Quick Apply’ button above.
