You would be joining a multi-disciplinary dedicated and collaborative team, working closely with our Head of Department and colleagues to deliver high-quality, efficient pain management services to the people of Tasmania. Your day-to-day responsibilities include: Providing high-quality multidisciplinary services as a pain specialist in outpatient clinics. Working closely within a multidisciplinary team. Providing advisory and consultative services to inpatients and other departments. Option of doing procedural interventions for pain management. Contributing to teaching of pain fellows, junior doctors, and registrars from other disciplines. Participating in quality improvement initiatives as required by the department. Who are we? Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) is Tasmania’s largest hospital and major referral centre. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH collaborates with the University of Tasmania and other institutions. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community. The Persistent Pain Service (PPS) at RHH is the only public pain service in the state and is also a Level 1 training unit of the Faculty of Pain Medicine (FPM, ANZCA). The Persistent Pain Service is a multidisciplinary service consisting of Specialist Pain Medicine Physicians with primary specialties of Neurosurgery, Rheumatology, ENT, Anaesthesia, and General Practice along with psychiatrist, pain nurses, allied health including physiotherapy and psychology, and administration staff. It has accredited training positions for specialists aiming to enter the pain medicine fellowship program. The PPS also boasts FPM approved Supervisors of training who oversee the training program and provide essential supervision to the trainees. Responsibilities: Provide inpatient and community-based services and work within the Persistent Pain Care Team. Provide clinical services of the highest possible standard to patients referred to the service in collaboration with other specialties. Oversee Persistent Pain programs for clients as part of a multidisciplinary team. Actively pursue improved outcomes for patients by participating in teaching and research relevant to Persistent Pain Service. Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Award A remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances, and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority. Base salary points range for Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 at $216,300 through to Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11 at $296,640 with further salary increments available. Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $300,216 - $310,389 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2, or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award . In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: Allowance in lieu of motor vehicle currently set at $28,389 pro rata per annum, paid fortnightly (with CPI indexation on 1 July each year). Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,480 pro rata per annum. On-call allowance % of Base Salary. All other allowances as per current Award. And subject to approval from the Private Patient Scheme Committee (PPS), 35% of Base salary plus on-call, pro rata) of additional payment will be paid from (PPS). If not admitted to the PPS, a 35% in lieu of PPS of base salary will be paid. Other Benefits: You will have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. You will also have access to accommodation and relocation costs. Details of Appointment: Fixed term part-time day work (with on-call), working 45.6 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible from March 2025 for 12 months. Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full-time and part-time vacancies. Holds specialist registration; or Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who is on the specialist pathway; or Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who has a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the specialty. *Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled, or has its conditions altered.
