Our client is an Australian multinational retail company known for its stores across Australia and New Zealand. Within the group function, there are multiple business units.The Role: The State SHW Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategic initiatives in their respective state. You will work closely with the Head of SHW Supermarkets and the operational state leadership team. The role exists to influence and challenge the organisational approach to SH&W. It will coach for enhanced and aligned motivation, ownership, and behaviour of leaders both within Woolworths and our contracting partners.Key Elements of the role: Partner directly with State Directors to develop and implement state-based strategic initiatives. Manage complex situations. Partner and influence key stakeholders, including team members, leadership, contracting companies, unions, and regulators. Enable operations to achieve and sustain key SH&W KRs and metrics and ensure compliance with Safe Work practices. Play a critical role in maintaining the self-insurance license within the State/Territory. Lead and coach the State Safety, Health, and Wellbeing Partners to deliver the support required in-store, including managing incidents, collaborating with regulators, embedding improvements, updating processes, and taking a proactive approach to mitigate risks in stores. Deliver and embed wellbeing initiatives for the team to support mental health. Take an in-person approach across the state/s to create strong trusting relationships across the store network. Lead weekly and monthly reporting. Coach store leaders to adhere to Safety, Health, and Wellbeing Management Systems and measure compliance, risks, and system/process shortfalls. Provide guidance and technical support during critical incident events. Collaborate across the State store network to achieve a consistent National Safety, Health, and Wellbeing implementation of the strategic plan. Accurately monitor and report on safety, health, and wellbeing performance, proactively identifying opportunities to improve risk reduction strategies. About You: Strategic thinking - Ability to think strategically and focus on higher-level goals. Innovation - Creates new ideas and challenges the status quo. Influencing - Has the ability to gain agreement with stakeholders, seeking to deliver win-win outcomes through negotiation techniques. High level of communication skills and formal presentation delivery skills, both written and verbal, with senior stakeholders. Negotiating - Ability to reach mutually acceptable outcomes. In-depth knowledge of retail processes and supplier mechanics to deliver improvements in compliance. Ability to plan for the future of the business to support stores and teams. A naturally curious mind and ability to challenge the status quo to ensure purposeful and store-led decision making.
