Storage Administrators RFQ ID: LH-01665 ASD 2025Due to the nature of clients we work with here at Kinexus and the projects these roles will be based on, an Australian Government Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) clearance is essential.These opportunities do not have the ability to obtain sponsorship for a security clearance (including applicants who currently hold a security clearance seeking to upgrade). ABOUT THIS ROLE Storage Administrators provide ICT Systems Administration (Storage and Backup) services to enable the efficient sustainment of current infrastructure and design of future backup and storage solutions within a complex environment spanning multiple geographically separated data centres and remote offices. Estimated start date: Tuesday, 01 July 2025 Initial contract duration: 12 months Extension term: 12 months Number of extensions: 2 Experience level: APS6 equivalent Location of work: ACT Working arrangements: Onsite. Onsite at ASD premises in Canberra, ACT. There may be a requirement for occasional interstate travel within Australia. Candidates require an AGSVA TSPV to perform the role. ASD will not sponsor candidates to upgrade their security clearances. Candidates must be willing to undergo ASD's Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to engagement. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ASD requires the services of 2 x Storage Administrators to provide ICT Systems Administration (Storage and Backup) services to enable the efficient sustainment of current infrastructure and design of future backup and storage solutions within a complex environment spanning multiple geographically separated data centres and remote offices. Provide support in the design and implementation of the future storage and backup strategy and technology refresh across multiple environments for highly classified networks. Develop and document System Security Plans (SSP) for Storage and Backup systems. Provide systems administration and support for the management of the existing Storage Area Networks (SAN) in conjunction with future storage and backup requirements. Provide support to resolve Service Request and Incident tickets in the Storage and Backup Services Queue. Work as part of a team to manage incidents, problems, continuous services improvement and workflows to meet deadlines. Contribute technical knowledge and industry best practice to a customer focused, security enabled global ICT platform. Engage and liaise with assigned project representatives and other support teams regarding storage and backup deliverables. Comply with internal administrative and Standard Operating Procedures. The role requires candidates to possess the following skills and qualifications: Demonstrated experience with Enterprise Storage Technologies from Hitachi, HPE and Pure Storage. Demonstrated experience with Enterprise Backup and Recovery solutions. Demonstrated experience with SAN networking technologies. Demonstrated experience with Windows Servers and operating systems. Demonstrated experience with Unix/Linux platforms. Demonstrated ICT Security experience or qualifications. Demonstrated experience with VMware. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE NEEDED Essential criteria1. STMG 5 Manages the storage and backup systems to provide agreed service levels. Responsible for creating, improving, and supporting quality IT services with optimal utilisation of storage resources, ensuring data security, availability and integrity of business data. Drafts standards, procedures and guidelines for implementing data protection and disaster recovery functionality for all business applications and business data using different online and offline storage devices.2. ITOP 4 Provides technical expertise to enable the correct application of operational procedures. Uses storage management tools to determine network load and performance statistics. Contributes to the planning and implementation of maintenance and installation work, including building and management of systems and components in virtualised computing environments. Implements agreed storage charges and maintenance managed in accordance with agreed standards and procedures. Provides reports and proposals for improvement, to specialists, users and managers.3. USUP 5 Ensures that incidents are handled according to agreed procedures. Investigates escalated incidents to responsible service owners and seeks resolution. Facilitates recovery, following resolution of incidents. Ensures that resolved incidents are properly documented and closed. Analyses cause of incidents, and inform service owners in order to minimise probability of recurrence, and contribute to service improvement.
