This is a unique opportunity to work in new and innovative ways that recognise First Peoples as the self-determining drivers of Aboriginal affairs in Victoria. This role will contribute to the ground-breaking work of the Group in the areas of truth, treaty, self-determination and cultural rights. The First Peoples - State Relations Group supports an extensive program of priority work with First Peoples, applying a strong understanding of self-determination to our work practices and in providing clear and robust advice to the Minister for Treaty and First Peoples, the Premier, Cabinet and senior executives within the Group. As the Strategic Adviser you will lead and facilitate the delivery of priority policy and projects for the Community Relations and Heritage Division. Successful applicants will be highly adaptable and experienced in delivering high-priority and complex projects and collaborating with senior stakeholders. About you To succeed in this role, you will have: Demonstrated experience in delivering high-priority and/or complex projects with limited direction. Exceptional written communication skills, including ability to prepare and edit complex briefs, correspondence, submissions and reports ensuring that they contain the information necessary to achieve their purpose and meet audience needs. Strong analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills and demonstrated experience in applying these skills to develop options for complex stakeholder issues where diverse interests need to be considered. Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills, with an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, provide advice on processes and policies, and work effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. Strong project management, planning and organisational skills including the ability to be agile and adaptative in a dynamic environment. Mandatory: Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal affairs policy, legislation and frameworks relevant to Victoria. How to apply Apply before the advertised closing date.
