About the role: We have an exciting 2-year fixed term contract opportunity for a talented Specialist – Strategic Environment Marine to join our highly skilled Environment team at Water Corporation. We are looking for someone to provide specialist marine expertise to primarily support the strategic planning and delivery of new assets. This role will involve working in a multidisciplinary team on a diverse and challenging range of new projects across the state. You’ll be based in Leederville, a lively suburb, 5 minutes from Perth’s CBD. There are plenty of places to eat and hang out, and you’re only 5 minutes away from the nearest train station – an easy commute when you’re heading into the office. This role will be reporting to the Senior Principal – Marine Science. The role will involve: Provide specialist technical advice on marine environmental matters relating to the strategic planning and delivery of new assets. Identify and facilitate marine investigations required to support environmental impact assessments and to obtain environmental approvals. Managing marine environmental contractors, including management of budgets, schedules, and deliverables. Preparation and review of marine technical reports. Engaging with external stakeholders and the community where required. Project and subcontractor management. Key skills and experience: You will be degree qualified in marine science or a similar discipline with at least 8 years’ professional experience. Considerable experience with large marine infrastructure projects. Experience in planning, managing, and implementing marine investigations, and in reviewing/interpreting marine environmental data. A working knowledge of state and Commonwealth legislation associated with environmental approvals and marine environmental management of operational assets. Excellent technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills & technical report writing experience. Experience in interpreting and applying the outcomes of marine hydrodynamic/transport modelling. Demonstrated ability to manage projects and/or consultants within scope, budget and HSE requirements. Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision.
