Strategic Evaluation and Improvement Lead (NDSS) $ 122,720- $132k Base + Super + Salary Packaging Location: Ideally Canberra Benefits : Salary Packaging - Up to $15,900 pretax towards living expenses mortgage/rent + up to $2650 pretax towards entertainment. Flexible work arrangements: 3 days from home / 2 days in-office Diabetes Australia is the national body for the 1.4 million Australians living with all types of diabetes, as well as those at risk. Their mission is to reduce the impact of diabetes and improve the lives of those affected. They work in partnership with people with diabetes, health professionals, researchers, and government to advocate for and deliver meaningful programs and services. About the NDSS Diabetes Australia administers the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS) on behalf of the Australian Government. The NDSS provides information, education, programs, and subsidised products to support people with diabetes in managing their condition. The Opportunity We are seeking a Strategic Evaluation and Improvement Lead to oversee the contract and performance management of the NDSS independent evaluation service provider. This role is not about conducting evaluations, but rather ensuring that the evaluation process produces meaningful, actionable insights that drive operational improvements and better outcomes for people with diabetes. This is a key leadership role within Diabetes Australia, working to enhance efficiency, streamline processes, and maximise service impact. The successful candidate will manage feedback systems, performance tracking, and data interpretation, ensuring that business intelligence informs continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities Evaluation Oversight: Manage the contract and performance of the independent evaluation service provider, ensuring deliverables meet NDSS objectives and drive actionable insights. Data Analysis & Interpretation: Transform evaluation findings into concise, meaningful reports that support decision-making and business improvements. Performance Monitoring & Improvement: Identify operational gaps, develop solutions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across NDSS operations. Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with internal teams, subcontractors, and external providers to align evaluation activities with organisational goals. Feedback Management: Oversee the feedback monitoring system and develop business intelligence reports that inform management decisions and strategy. Operational Efficiency: Lead efforts to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and optimise service delivery for people living with diabetes. Quality & Compliance: Ensure compliance with legislative, contractual, and organisational requirements, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous learning. About You To be successful in this role, you will have: Essential: Tertiary qualification in evaluation, process improvement, operations management, or a related field. Demonstrated experience in performance improvement, program evaluation, or service optimisation. Strong project management and change management skills, with the ability to lead organisational improvements. Advanced data analysis skills, including experience with evaluation tools such as Power BI, Excel, etc. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights. Ability to challenge external service providers and ensure evaluation outputs are practical, concise, and aligned with NDSS objectives. Desirable: Experience in government or not-for-profit sectors. Familiarity with quality improvement methodologies and frameworks. Knowledge of diabetes services or health-related program evaluation. Why Join Diabetes Australia?
