A great opportunity has become available for a Sub Transmission Planning Engineer to join us as we go through this exciting growth phase! About the role This key role will see you planning the electricity sub-transmission network which feeds electricity to 802,000 customers across parts of Victoria. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Undertaking comprehensive network planning processes to assess network capabilities (long & short-term), assess emerging issues, and identify areas of the network where limitations are existing or expected to emerge in the future, and develop network solutions and contingency plans. Using reliability planning frameworks to embed reliability into sub-transmission network development. Developing connection asset augmentation plans to support load and generator growth in sub-transmission network. Planning for a new energy future taking into account macro trends in the energy sector and the impacts of climate change. Assisting in delivering Electricity Distribution Price Review (EDPR) technical inputs on time and to required quality. Assisting in maintaining effective relationships with customers and key stakeholders, including AEMO, DEECA & VicGrid. Producing network investment plans and proposals for the regulated sub-transmission networks, including developing optimised and prioritised network augmentation programs (sub-transmission) that support regulatory submissions and program delivery. Developing models, scope of works, economic cost benefit assessment and business cases to support network investment decisions and the timely delivery of the works program. About you You don’t need to tick every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of: Engineering Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent, and proven experience in the utilities industry. Understanding and knowledge of contemporary electricity network planning, asset management practices and overarching markets. Experience in using electricity network analysis tools or relevant software (such as PSSE, PowerFactory and/or PSCAD) and interpreting results. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python as well as knowledge of Sincal would be extremely beneficial. Experience of load flow studies & fault level assessments would be highly desirable. Knowledge of National Electricity Rules, Electricity Distribution Code, the energy markets and relevant laws, regulations, rules, licences and agreements. Understanding of primary plant, lines assets, network protection and control devices, protection schemes and remedial action schemes. Ability to build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You are self-motivated, have excellent time management and stakeholder engagement skills, able to communicate across a broad internal and external audience.
