We are currently looking to appoint a Catering Supervisor based at the Calvary Mater Hospital and NSW Health Mental Health Centre in Waratah, Newcastle. Reporting to the Catering Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the ongoing support and supervision of the catering operation and team with particular focus on the Mental Health Centre food quality and service. This is a hands-on full-time position requiring the successful applicant to be a confident, motivated, and focused professional willing and able to work within the structure of a healthcare setting. The successful applicant ideally will have a minimum of three years’ catering supervisory experience in a hospital or aged care setting. Key Duties In collaboration with the catering management team, supervision of the catering operations ensuring compliance with all company standards, policies and procedures and legislative requirements. High level focus on food safety and infection control through implementation and monitoring of relevant safety and hygiene procedures and practices. Monitor food quality and service with particular focus on the Mental Health Centre. Manage the catering roster including shift coverage and accurate payroll data entry. Effectively communicate and liaise with multiple client stakeholders. Maintain strong focus on patient/customer satisfaction. Monitor stock and waste control processes. Facilitate on-the-job staff training where required. The Person Previous experience in a catering supervisory role. Certificate 3 Commercial Cookery qualification and willingness to undertake cooking duties when required. Established positive and proactive people management skills. Solution-focused outlook with a keen eye for detail. Well-developed accurate and professional administrative skills. Large team rostering experience. Experience in internal and external healthcare-centered auditing processes. Monday - Friday position (38 hours) requiring availability to work until 6pm each day.
