Job Description As our Sustainability Advisor (Waste, recycling and circular economy), you will partner with business stakeholders and suppliers to seek continuous improvement in the Group’s waste management and recycling policies and operating procedures. You'll help to drive cultural, operational, and behavioural change across the Group with the view to maximising recycling and circular economy opportunities, in line with the Group’s Sustainability Strategy. Your key responsibilities will include: Build awareness around the Group’s vision and aspiration for achieving 80% waste diversion target Align waste targets with APCO and other stakeholder expectations Work collaboratively with stakeholders to explore circular economy opportunities and initiatives Conduct waste audits across store, warehouse, and office locations Review adequacy of waste and recycling infrastructure and supplier network Work with procurement teams to optimise waste and recycling supply chain, and explore cost savings Work with broader sustainability team to ensure waste and recycling suppliers meet the Group’s ethical sourcing requirements Ensure completeness and accuracy of waste reporting from suppliers Establish supplier service levels, and integrate supplier reporting and performance into contractual agreements Review, improve and embed waste and recycling operating procedures thought the store and warehouse network Conduct team member and supplier training and awareness on relevant waste and recycling topics Work with supply chain team to implement soft plastics recycling across the HDC network Work with freight and logistics teams to implement delivery driver training and oversight regarding waste collection Optimise recycling of EPS within the store network Optimise waste processes during peak trading season Develop store team sustainability champions program Develop on-going team communication and engagement Work with Operational Risk Teams to develop store waste audits and risk oversight Qualifications 3+ years of experience within a waste management, change management or process improvement role Relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g. sustainability, environmental management) Previous experience with a listed retailer is favourable but not essential.
